Both are fun to dabble with and seeing where you stack up against with your connected friends and others around the world is really cool. Four-player local co-op is present along with a survival mode that has online leaderboards. A few extra modes round out the package as well. The control scheme is handled well and playing on the Pro controller just felt right. The framerate is rock solid in both docked and handheld mode. Tons of enemies populate the screen at one time and at no time did I witness any slowdown. The visual effects when explosions are happening are implemented so well. Tesla vs Lovecraft looks and feels great, especially when you start unleashing some secondary abilities and find random item drops littered through the map. Once you do so, you’re able to let the mini-gun-toting machine go to work, freeing yourself up a little before rinsing and repeating this addicting twin-stick, shoot and loot cycle. The main reason for this being the fact that, during battle, the game has you constantly powering up Tesla with a suite of perks that layer on top of one another for the duration of each kill session. Tesla vs Lovecraft might be a traditional top-down twin-stick shooter at heart, but as you continue to progress from level to level mowing down hordes of the undead, one can’t deny that what’s on display here is a little bit special. The arsenal with which Tesla dispatches enemies is perhaps not the most varied but it is efficient, ranging from a simple pistol to a machine gun, without forgetting the occasional bomb that instantly destroys all enemies on the screen. During the course of each game, we find different objects that will help us clean the streets of Arkham, including the classic medicine cabinets, experience improvements and weapons. In addition, it offers a local cooperative mode for four players and three levels of difficulty, increased by the limited scenarios, often having to plan your next movements well so as not to end up being torn apart under a horde of multiform green beings.
